Journey to Baldrige
On February 7, the LifeShare Network (LSN) announced that they have begun to adopt the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The program educates organizations in performance excellence management and administers the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
The focus of LSN adopting this program is ultimately for the organization to find ways to improve performance and save lives through organ and tissue donation. Subsequently, this would lead to LSN having continued improvements in performance and set a standard for long term organizational sustainability.
Performance improvements will first be reported to the Oklahoma Quality Foundation at the state level, and after receiving feedback, the organization intends to report its improvements at the national level.

LifeShare Celebrates Ninth Consecutive Record-Breaking Year - 535 Lives Saved in 2022
LifeShare Oklahoma, the federally-designated nonprofit organization responsible for the recovery of donated organs and tissue in the state, proudly announced that 535 lives were saved in 2022 – the most ever in a single year in Oklahoma.
Throughout 2022, LifeShare coordinated the recovery of 602 lifesaving organs from 249 organ donor heroes and 1,106 tissue donors. These precious gifts allowed LifeShare to provide 535 grateful organ transplant recipients a second chance at life and provide mobility and life enhancement to more than 82,000 individuals through tissue donation. |
Additionally, more than 181 women donated birth tissue this year, which is new territory for the organization.
“I am incredibly proud of the work LifeShare has done this year to save lives,” explained Jeffrey Orlowski, President and Chief Executive Officer of LifeShare. “We have once again set organizational records across the board, which is a result of the focus and commitment from the entire LifeShare team including staff, leadership, volunteers and efforts of the Oklahoma medical community.”
“Most importantly, we have also had incredible support and generosity from families and supporters of donation, without which our lifesaving work would not be possible,” explains Orlowski. “We encourage Oklahomans to continue registering to be organ, eye and tissue donors so more lives can be saved.”
There are still approximately 700 Oklahomans waiting for a lifesaving transplant. To learn more about donation or to register visit LifeShareOK.org.
